The Law and Society Students' Journal (LSSJ) invites submissions on issues that are relevant, current, and of general interest. Please review the following guidelines prior to sending your manuscript to the journal:
Open Access LSSJ is an open access journal, which means your article will be free to access online immediately on publication. We encourage researchers to publish open access as it increases the visibility, readership, and impact of their research. There is no article publishing charge (APC) for publishing your research in this journal.
The Peer Review Process Each paper submitted to this journal will be reviewed by two anonymous reviewers, followed by further reviews by the members of the editorial body. After receiving a response from at least two reviewers, the authorities will decide whether or not to proceed with publication. We may ask the contributors to revise their writings in response to editorial remarks. Editorial feedback does not, however, assure publication. We reserve sole discretion over publication decisions.
Area of Submission The journal accepts articles on themes and cross-cutting issues that stand at the intersection between law and society. The authors, therefore, should be able to show how their articles contribute to the understanding of how the law impacts the broader society and, concurrently, how social phenomena give the shape and the forms that laws take in present-day societies.
Writing Categories and Language Original articles in English or Bangla, translation work, and book reviews are welcome.
Structure The submission should be split into two files: anonymous manuscript and author information. The anonymous manuscript file should be compiled in the following order: title page; abstract; five keywords; main text; materials and methods; results; discussion; appendices (as appropriate) and bibliography. All illustrations, figures, and tables are to be placed within the text at the appropriate points rather than at the end.
The author's information file should contain the details of the author's designation, affiliation, address, correspondence, acknowledgements, and declaration of interest statement.
Format The submission should be formatted in Sylfaen font (for English) and Kalpurush (for Bangla), sized at 12 points, single-spaced. The title, heading, quotations, and other sections should be formatted according to the template provided in this journal. You can download the Microsoft Office template and follow the formatting styles accordingly.
Word Limits: The word limit for the original article is 5000 words (excluding footnotes and bibliography), and for the book review it is 1500 words (excluding footnotes and bibliography). Acceptance of submissions outside this range is at the sole discretion of the Editor-in-Chief.
Citation The writing should follow the Oxford Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA).
Submission Procedure Manuscripts can be submitted through the manuscript submission system of this journal. The anonymous manuscript must not include any author information. A separate file must be attached containing author information and any additional information as mentioned above.
Publication Fees There are no fees associated with either submission or publishing.
Publication Ethics and Malpractive Statement
This statement regulates the ethical behaviour of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article, a book review, and a case commentary in it and is based on the COPE's Codes of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines (http://publicationethics.org/).
Duties of Authors
Originality and Plagiarism: Authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others, this must be appropriately cited or quoted. Such quotations and citations must be listed in the References at the end of the article. The author is required to submit a plagiarism report with each submission.
Multiple Publication: An author should not, in general, publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behaviour and is unacceptable.
Authorship of the Paper: Authorship should be limited to a maximum number of three persons, those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. and should be listed as co-authors. Others, who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. Since it is a students' journal, no teacher or any other professionals can be an author.
Corresponding Author: Corresponding author is the author responsible for communicating with the journal for publication. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the paper. All coauthors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.
Acknowledgment of Funding Sources: Sources of funding for the research reported in the article should be duly acknowledged at the end of the article.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.
Fundamental Errors in Published Works: When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, the author should promptly notify the journal editors or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
